Ireland's first ever Graduate Medical Programme started at the University of Limerick in September 2007. The Graduate Entry Medical School offers a four-year medical degree programme open to graduates from any discipline. It has a highly innovative curriculum that aims to produce doctors who are well equipped to meet the existing and emerging needs of Irish society. Scholarships are needed to give financial assistance to students who otherwise would not be able to take up their place on this challenging programme. Special emphasis is placed on students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
