The University of Limerick plays a unique role in Irish Sport. This includes responsibilities for the provision of teaching and research programmes in physical education and sports science with 600 full-time students currently enrolled in such programmes.

The UL campus is also home to the University Arena which is a multi-purpose sports facility catering for the expanding national sports responsibilities the University enjoys. This large indoor facility completes the total package of sports available on campus for all user groups. It is Ireland's largest indoor sports complex, encompassing 145,000 square feet of space and offering a diverse range of sports and fitness options. It also houses the National 50m Swimming Pool - Ireland's first Olympic sized pool.

As “Ireland’s sporting campus”, the University needs an increasing number of sports bursaries to help attract Ireland's most promising athletes to the University.  By supporting sports bursaries, you are helping us to reward and encourage these talented young sports people.
