UL's inaugural Chancellor's Concert was held on 5th March to raise funds for the University. Organised by the UL Foundation and held on the University campus, the event included an exclusive black tie dinner, as well as a concert performance by the Irish Chamber Orchestra and renowned pianist John O'Conor. Proceeds from the event will support the University as it takes the lead in regeneration initiatives for Limerick. Speaking at the pre-concert dinner, UL Chancellor Peter Malone paid tribute to the development taking place on UL's North campus, including the new Health Sciences building and the soon-to-be-completed Irish World Academy of Music and Dance Building.

The concert, which took place in the new Irish Chamber Orchestra building located on the North campus, was the first ever public performance in the building. The Irish Chamber Orchestra has been based at the University of Limerick since 1995 and has built a reputation for the highest level of musical excellence. The Irish pianist John O'Conor has earned a worldwide reputation as a masterful interpreter of the Classic and early-Romantic repertoires and has toured the world in recital and concerto appearances and makes regular visits to Europe, the USA, Japan, Korea and China.
