Kellogg’s Sports Scholarship Awarded to Swim Ireland High Performance Centre at UL

published on Mar 01st, 2009

The Kellogg’s Sports Scholarship was established by the Kellogg’s Company in 1994, in conjunction with the UL Foundation, to assist outstanding students with their sports endeavours.

Since then, students from a wide variety of sporting areas have benefited, including table tennis, rowing, basketball, rugby, triathlon, golf, hammer, athletics and high jump. The most recent award was made to the Swim Ireland High Performance Centre at UL who are working to develop world-class swimmers locally. After a very successful 2007/’08 season in which their swimmers broke more than 20 Irish records, the High Performance Swimming team will start off the 2009 season with a training camp in Tenerife next September. They have set goals to get three athletes to the World Senior Championships in Rome and two athletes to the European Junior Championships in Prague.
